Background
Who is Bane? The writer, producer, engineer and lyricist is based out of Tallahassee, Florida. Part of what has established Bane in the underground rap scene is his diverse subject matter. His sincere, heartfelt lyrics scream authenticity, an increasingly uncommon quality in the hip-hop genre.
Since 2001, the lyrical phenom has released ten underground compilations as an independent artist. His 2007 release of "Life Line: Local to Major" under Nu Davelopment Records established his position as a notable presence in the Southeast. With an impressive track record of mixtapes and compliations, the young aritst plans to release his first solo independent album in the fall of 2012.
Content
Its no secret that Bane is a non-conformist. His anti-industry sound is a direct result of his values and morals, which stem from his faith in Jesus Christ. His content is the extreme opposite of what is commonly heard on the radio by mainstream artists. He promotes celibacy, sobreity, faithfulness and righteousness in his thoughtful lyrics. Bane has long been an advocate for the death of the current hip hop industry so it can be reborn as a positive influence on its listeners. This idea of forsaking the rap game, instead of attempting to "save it," is immensely unpopular to the commercial audience, but to be a Christian in a ungodly world is to be rejected.
Contrary to what most believe, Kloak'd is not an alternate persona, nor is it meant to serve as an alias. Kloak'd was conceived as a mindstate. It implies that Bane is transparent in his music, and that through his songs and lyrics Jesus Christ is the one to be recognized and glorified. Bane often states in his music that he is "Kloak'd," meaning he is invisible or cloaked in the presence of God's glory. It defines that he is unworthy of the credit that is given him because his abilities are not truly his own, he is merely a steward of the talents that God has blessed him with. The underlying meaning of Kloak'd is to die to one's self, only to be reborn through the blood and eternal sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
